Dear Families,

Sadly, this week the newsletter opens with some upsetting news. We have had reports recently of the school site at Sand Hutton being used out of hours. Obviously, the site isn’t supervised in the evenings or at weekends and I can see the temptation. However, this has escalated to the misuse of the Class1 area and staff have been coming back to dirty and untidy equipment which had been put away for the weekend. This has resulted in us securing that area, making it more difficult for someone to get in. This morning, staff arrived to the site vandalised with orange paint. This extended to the front door and handle which had to be cleaned before anyone could enter. As I am sure you can imagine, this has left us feeling incredibly sad but also fearful about what might happen
next. It has been reported to the police and I am appealing to you to be extra vigilant and report trespassers to our site so we can keep it safe for our children.

Moving on to happier things…. This has felt like a really short half term although we have packed in lots including SATS tests for Year 6 pupils at both schools, an exciting Robinwood meetings and 6 beautiful chicks at Sand Hutton.

Today we hope to end the half term in style with our Girls’ Football Team event at The Hopgrove. We are extremely proud to be taking a mixed federation team, who had their own bespoke coaching session on Monday, to compete against other schools in a tournament. The PTA at Sand Hutton have kindly gifted them special wristbands as a keepsake for the event. I know the girls will be proud!

Despite the weather for the holidays starting in a somewhat miserable way, it does look to pick up so we hope you have some plans to spend time with your children enjoying the break. We are due to return for the final half term on Monday 2nd June.

I do have some dates to share with you ahead of this:
