9th October 2026

Dear Families,

Welcome to the end of another week….

You will have or will be receiving communication about our Parents’ Evening. For a variety of reasons, these will take place in both schools at the same time, on Thursday 22nd October. As I can only attend one venue and in Mrs Naylor’s absence, I will be at Warthill. I will be available should you wish to make an appointment with me. This can either be achieved over the phone or on another day if you would like to see me at Sand Hutton. To make things more straightforward for staff, especially after the end of the school day, appointments will take place, distanced, in the school hall. Work will be available in the Class 3 area. This means there should be no need for anyone to access further into the school site, keeping everyone securely together. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

As part of Parents’ Evening over the last couple of years, we welcome The Book Fair. As part of a launch for this, Miss Heffernan usually sets a small competition. In her absence, I am challenging children to make a ‘Book Sleeve’ for an imaginary book of their choosing. Children will need to consider a title, author, front cover and short blurb for the back. This can be any size or paper/card or school can provide a template on request. KS1 pupils, you can produce a front cover only.

We hope to see many of you at our Harvest Services. We would like to take a collection for our linked LAB Charity. I realise many of us carry little cash these days and so advance notice may help in this regard. As always, Nathan will let the children how any money has been spent. We thank you in advance for your generosity.

As mentioned last week, the whole of Warthill School will be out at the Railway Museum on Tuesday next week. They will be accompanied by Class 1 from Sand Hutton. We have a fun filled day planned and we are looking forward to our time in the Wonderlab! We can’t wait to tell you all about it.

Have a fabulous weekend doing whatever you have planned!
With every best wish,
Beverley Pawson
