Dear Families,
Welcome back to the Autumn Term. I hope you enjoyed the summer holidays and were able to spend quality time with loved ones. We would like to welcome our new starters in both schools and hope they are already feeling settled and at home.
As some of you may be aware, Mrs Naylor hasn’t returned to our schools this September. Very sadly, she suffered a sudden and devastating personal loss over the summer. The thoughts and love of both our schools are with her and her family at this time. Thank you for your understanding while the many roles she leads are covered by other staff. The role of deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead will be covered in a reciprocal arrangement with the headteacher of another school. We will let you know of any updates related to her return, as appropriate.
We will have a dates list for you as soon as possible but in the short term, please be aware that our first sharing with be at Warthill on September 18th September and at Sand Hutton on 25th September. Please come and join us!
Finally, after such a long break, we understand that some children may feel a little anxious about returning to school and I would like to offer support in getting children over the hurdle of the first couple of weeks. Attendance is so important and setting a good precedent at the start of the year crucial. As is usual in the Autumn term, I am sharing the impact of school absence on outcomes in the longer term.

If you have concerns, please contact me and we can work together to support your child.
Please see the link below:
https://www.childrenscommissioner.gov.uk/thebigfuture Yours or your child’s comments are
invited.
Finally, should you wish to share any family matters we need to be aware of that have occurred over
the summer or have any other concerns you wish to share, the door is always open.
With every best wish,
Beverley Pawson
Headteacher
