Summer 2026

Dear Families,

We have made it to the end of term!

Since the last newsletter we have had a number of events.

While I am reluctant to talk football now….the community viewing of the England game when both our schools came together, with bacon butties, was a tremendous success and provided money for our children to buy books at Waterstones. At the end of the same week, we enjoyed a wholesome evening of fun at the now expected ‘I’m a Year 6 Leaver, Get Me Out of Here’ evening. Year 6 from both settings enjoyed pizza, marshmallow toasting, challenges and T- shirt signing, taking memories to cherish away with them!

This week has been busy as it always is and we have enjoyed two wonderful Leavers’ Assemblies. These are always unique to each school and emotional occasions. We are sending a large cohort, collectively, on to secondary schools this time. We know that our children are ready and we also know that they will leave with lasting memories and fondness for their time at Sand Hutton and Warthill Federated Schools. We wish them all the very best.

It was a group of Year 6 pupils who visited Waterstones this week and blew the staff in the shop away with their knowledge of children’s literature! Together they chose books for their schools, full in the knowledge of what was already in their library. They then had the pleasure of choosing books personally. They were fantastic ambassadors for both our schools.

Year 6 pupils also finally received their long-awaited SATS results this week! I hope they are as thrilled with them as we are! CONGRATULATIONS!

Next, I must send my thanks. Firstly, I thank all the parents for affording us the privileged of teaching your children. It is an honour and they do you credit. Secondly, I must thank all the staff and volunteers for everything that they do. Schools such as ours could not operated without staff wearing many different hats and being willing to be flexible. I know staff go above and beyond.

Mrs Darling wanted to share this.

Cooking club
A huge thank you to Mrs Drummond for organising and prepping everything for cooking club. We’ve had lots of positive compliments about these tasty recipes. This is always a popular after school club which we run every year during the summer term. Well done to all the children that have attended this year.

This leads me to thinking of all the clubs that are offered to our children throughout the year. There has been a real variety available to our pupils this year and I am aware of many parents have thanked staff for these. So, if you ran or supported an extra-curricular club this year, thank you!

Thank you to both the PTA and FOWS for all that you do for us. Events planned and money raised. We are so fortunate. Thank to everyone who supports these events.

And finally, I want to say thank you from me and behalf of all the staff for the many kind and generous words and gifts we have received. We all love what we do, but we feel appreciated and we know how much because you tell us in so many ways. We have been so touched by the love you have shown us.

Have a safe and fulfilled summer. Please enjoy special moments with your families and return safe and sound and ready for a new year, to do it all over again on Tuesday 8th September. Should you have any safeguarding concerns over the summer break, please email me directly and I will direct you to the relevant place for support.

With every best wish, as always,
