Dear Families,

I hope that you have had a slightly cooler week.

I am aware that the football match England v Mexico is looming on the horizon. Time zones have made this World Cup somewhat difficult for our children to follow easily and this match is a challenge for us all. Whether this is the next step on the England journey or not, I would like to propose marking this match by playing it in Sand Hutton on Monday morning.

Since we have the space at Sand Hutton to accommodate children and parents (should you wish to put yourselves through this. Even if your child doesn’t want to watch the match we have space for them to engage in other tasks, while still enjoying the atmosphere, I would like both schools to attend Sand Hutton ready for kick off at 9am. All children are welcome to come in sports’/football kits. At the end of the match, and in time for lunch, the children at Warthill will be taken by bus to their own setting. Should you wish to join us, you are very welcome to do so. Nena has agreed to serve bacon butties and a drink for breakfast (£2 or a donation of your choice). Obviously, it would be more exciting if the outcome of the game remained a closely guarded secret but I realise that this will be something of a challenge. In order for us to roughly cater for this event, please could you indicate if you will require food. There is no need to indicate attendance for any other reason.

I was lucky enough to attend Mr Mackfall’s ice cream making session at Warthill this week. I noticed that no one has brought me any to try as yet though! Everyone looked to be having so much fun!

In other news this week, we finally made it to The Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Thank you, Sand Hutton PTA for arranging and paying for this experience for us all. We had a marvellous day and though a wee bit windy, the weather made it a really easy day for us. As always, our children made me incredibly proud. I would also like to share that a visitor on the trip commented on how our older children, most especially Year 6 boys, supported our younger children. Thank you for that! These kinds of comments make me prouder still.

It is difficult to believe there is so little time left before the summer break. Mrs Roughley won’t be in the Sand Hutton office on Tuesday and Wednesday so please let her know in advance if you are aware of any changes to routines.

Have a lovely weekend,
With every best wish,
