Dear Families,
I wanted to thank you all for bearing with us in the heat this week. While closing the schools is not something I considered, ensuring that the children have been safe and as cool as possible has been our priority. We have been ensuring that sessions have been low demand and have been encouraging drinks breaks and staying out of the sun or even staying inside during break times in the highest heat. The children have managed admirably although I think they are exceptionally tired (as are we!).

Thank you too for your understanding over the postponement of the whole school trip to The Wildlife Park from Sand Hutton. I feel confident that this was the right decision and we are looking forward to going next week! Hopefully a few more animals will be viewable than if we had ventured there this week.

A further note for Sand Hutton families with children in Class 2. As you will be aware Mrs Smith is unable to be with us at this time due to personal reasons. We have taken the decision to support Mrs Drysdale in continuing to step up. We decided that having someone with prior knowledge of the children and providing continuity, would be a considerably better option than cover staff who may differ between days. Thank you for your understanding.

Please find attached the online safety leaflet for this month too. I hope you find this useful. I know I find out new things from it and would certainly welcome the information if I had young people at home navigating the internet; with all the challenges that presents.

Have a lovely weekend and I hope that you can enjoy the sunshine!
With every best wish,
Beverley Pawson
