Dear Families,
What a busy week we have had! AGAIN!
On Monday, we had a photographer visit our schools. He took our group photographs which means already thinking about the prospect of children leaving us and it is only March. You will receive the proofs for the photographs which you can order separately.
I took an amazing group of our children to Huntington this week to compete in a Year 3/4 dodgeball competition. In a very echoey gymnasium, with some highly competitive teams, our children played with total honesty and integrity. Dodgeball is such a fast game and relies on players taking themselves off the court when they are caught by a ball. I was so very impressed with the sportsmanship our children demonstrated. Well done those children, for showing who and what we are at Sand Hutton and Warthill!
It was World Book Day this week and I have seen many images online of children from other schools in various costumes and wondered what else they did with their day. Excitingly, I know what our children did! The day was a celebration of reading in all its various ways. Children put much effort into creating their reading-based ART GALLERIES and these are available to view, should you have the time. Very well done to anyone who contributed. To those who won, an extra special well done. We also enjoyed mixed aged reading groups, secret readers, storytelling, book cover jigsaws, reading outside in the sunshine and opportunities to share our reading favourites with others.
As the better weather sneaks in, we are seeing busier roads in front of both of our sites. Soon, this will involve the heavier farm traffic which is common in both our villages. Please be extra careful when picking up and dropping off and keep our school communities safe.
Wishing you the best weekend,
With every best wish,
Beverley Pawson
