Dear Families, We all hope that you spent a purposeful yet relaxing half term break. It is certainly quite wonderful to have seen some sunshine and felt its warmth in recent days. Long may it continue. This morning we enjoyed a sharing assembly at Sand Hutton and celebrated many successes. I must also share my thanks for the wonderful gift of one hundred pounds for pupils to choose books from a grandparent. Many many thanks! On Monday we will be having class photographs and therefore can pupils come in uniform and if necessary, bring PE kit to change into. This is also when they take the photographs for the Year 6 Leaver gifts. It seems incredible that we have already reached this point in the academic year! A note from Miss Heffernan: World Book Day will soon be upon us. This year it falls on Thursday 5th March. As always, children will participate in a range of activities across the day and much fun will be had. As ever pupils receive book tokens. The pupils have been shown which specially written WBD books they may exchange the token for. However, vouchers can also be used as part payment for any book. Further information can be found on participating bookstores using the following link: https://www.worldbookday.com/books/ We know many of you look forward to participating in our WBD annual craft too. Reading Ambassadors have suggested having a gallery this year so that creations may be kept in school for a bit longer. This way, parents may also view them. We would like to invite all of our families to create a book themed painting, collage or drawing. This should be done on card or paper so that it can be displayed in schools on the wall displays. As always, there will be a token gift for a winner in each class. Please bring artwork into schools on WBD. Classes will be given time to look and admire them throughout the day. The children always look forward to this part of the year, as do staff! Have fun!
There will also be a World Book Day themed menu provided by the kitchen on that day. The meal will be inspired by characters from various books.
Please have a great weekend,
With every best wish,
Beverley Pawson
