Dear Families,
What a busy week the first week back has been!
Today, the children from Warthill are enjoying workshops and theatre tours at York Theatre Royal. We can’t wait to hear about that! I’m only sorry I was unable to join them. Thank you FOWS for arranging and funding this event. We really appreciate being able to have this unique experience!
On Wednesday I was lucky enough to accompany a group of Sand Hutton children to a cricket day in Dunnington. Thank you to the parents who made it possible and transported the children with me. We all enjoyed lots of matches and a little bit of coaching on the side. So, not only did we get to play,we came home playing much better than when we arrived.
This sporting event came hot on the heels of the Girls’ Football Event which saw a combined federation team win the Bronze League. They had lots of support from the side-lines and grew in confidence and skill with every game played. It was a great afternoon.
Both groups of pupils made me feel very proud! Well done everyone!

A note from Miss Heffernan for Sand Hutton:
The Summer Book Sale is here
With the help of some Reading Ambassadors, we will be trying to find new homes for our preloved books. This will take place at break times in the hall or playground (weather permitting) on Friday 13th June. All books will be priced 10p and once every child who would like to buy one has chosen, children may then buy as many books as they like. All proceeds from the sale go directly to purchasing new books for classes-please give generously.
The books will also be available after school to so please feel free to come and have a look.
We intend doing something similar at Warthill before too long! In addition to the books for children, we also intend to have some books for grown-ups available for the same price.
I have had a parent draw my attention to a possible opportunity to raise money for our school/s. It takes just a few seconds and you simply nominate a school. I assume that it may work similarly to a raffle. Might be worth a few seconds of your time.

We had a fabulous (and long) sharing at Sand Hutton this morning. Many certificates and awards given as well as musical performances from Patrick and Genevieve. Remember if you have a talent that you would like to share in front of an audience, contact your school, in advance, so that we can schedule these through our sharing assemblies. It is sharing at Warthill next week…… I’m looking forward to it already.
All that remains is for me to wish you a lovely weekend,
With every best wish,
Beverley Pawson
